ANTARCTICA FAQ

Have questions? We have answers! And if you can't find what you're looking for here or on the booking page, feel free to reach out direclty.

What does “Pre-Registration” or the “Join Waitlist” button mean on some of the packages?

Great question. Pre-Registration and "Join Waitlist" will be shown on any stateroom category outside of the Category C Superior stateroom (where we have secured a large block of rooms aboard the Ocean Albatros) so that we can confirm availability on any other requested room category. To request a room category, click the "Join Waitlist" button, enter your name, email and phone number and this will add your request to the queue.

Once we have confirmation back from Albatros Expeditions, you will receive an email invitation to book that room category from the WeTravel booking platform. Keep an eye out for this email, as you only have 48 hours from when the email is sent to finalize your booking of the stateroom! After 48 hours, the invite will expire, our team will move to the next person who has requested the same room category, and they will have 48 hours to book, and so on down the list. If you miss

If you see the "Join Waitlist" button, but NOT the "Pre-Registration" tag on a room category, that means the category is currently sold out, but you CAN add your party to the waitlist if a spot opens up due to cancellation.

How do I book as Two Travelers together or as a couple?

All packages are individually priced, and the package stipulates if it is a solo, double, or triple occupancy. If you are traveling with a significant other, friend or family member in the same room, please select 2 of the same packages. You will be able to indicate bed configuration (two twins or one shared King/Queen) at the time of booking.

How do I book as a Solo Traveler on this trip?

Most packages are priced for double or triple occupancy rooms, therefore if you are a solo traveler and don’t mind being roomed with another solo traveler (each solo traveler will have their own bed), select the "Category C SP Solo Pairing" option. If you have a preferred person you would like to be paired with, you will be able to enter that information at time of booking. If you would like your own private room throughout the entire trip, you have several options. First, you can opt for the "Category G Solo Traveler" package, which are smaller staterooms for solo travelers.

If you would like to book ANY other stateroom category, you can select the "Solo with Supplement" package and indicate which category of room you would like to book. The Single Occupancy Supplement adds 75% to the per person charge of any stateroom category, and we will provide a unique booking link with the total price including the supplement.

How much is the deposit per person and when are payments due?

You can secure your spot on the March 19-28, 2027 expedition to Antarctica with a 25% deposit, and make interest-free payments at any time of any amount prior to 120 days before departure.

What payment methods do you accept for the deposit and any other payments?

We welcome payments for your trip either via ACH (electronic payments from a USA bank account) or Credit Card.

To help us keep trip costs more affordable for you, surcharges for payments are not included in the trip package price, and you are encouraged to select the payment method that suits your needs. For example, if you receive international travel coverage insurance for purchasing with a specific credit card, then booking with a credit card may be the best option for you.

There is no surcharge for ACH electronic payments, while Credit Cards will add 2.9% to each transaction/automatic payment (3.9% for AMEX). All payments must be made through the WeTravel platform. We do not accept checks or alternative methods of payment.

Is insurance mandatory for this group trip?

There are several types of insurance you can purchase for a trip like this. Medical Evacuation Coverage (with a minimum coverage amount of $200,000) is required for travel to Antarctica.

Additionally, while not required, we highly recommend Travel Insurance with the following type of coverage:
- Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR)
- Trip Delay
- Travel Interruption

You may have some or all of this coverage from many types of credit cards if you charge the entire trip to the card. Check with your credit card providers for details.

What is the cancellation policy for this trip?

The cancellation policy for Antarctica is based on the days until the trip starts.

Once you have booked your spot, your initial trip deposit is refundable until 90 days before departure, but will be subject to a cancellation fee of at least $1,000 USD per person from Albatros Expeditions. We therefore highly recommend purchasing trip insurance that provides "cancel for any reason" or other coverage for non-refundable trip costs and cancellation fees.

In case of cancellation of the cruise, cancellation fees are:
- Cancellations received 180 days or more prior to departure, are refundable less an administration fee of minimum USD 1,000.00 per person.
- From 179 days to 91 days prior to departure cancellation costs are 25% of the total cruise tariff.
- From 90 days until departure cancellation costs are 100% of the total cruise tariff.
